LGA responds to exit payment cap consultation

The Local Government Association have released a response to the government's consultation on restricting exit payments in the public sector. Their response can be found under Related Links.

Section 1: looks at concerns about the implementation of the policy including potential legal issues, excessive bureaucracy, increased costs, and the range of individuals who may be affected by the cap.

Section 2: considers the technical issues that need to be addressed before the policy could be put in place, with a particular focus on the LGPS.

Introducing a cap on exit payments will have significant implications for employers and administering authorities so you may be interested in the LGA's response. The twelve-week consultation closed on 3 July and we'll let you know when further information is known.
