The LGPS regulations require scheme employers to inform the fund of any first instance decisions made under regulation 72 of the LGPS Regulations 2013, concerning the ‘rights or liabilities’ of scheme members.

This may occur when a decision has been made, for example, by your organisation, which refuses a request from a scheme member such as early payment of benefits due to ill health, as these decisions can often lead to appeals.

You should also make sure the fund is made aware when you receive an appeal under stage 1 of the internal dispute resolution procedure (IDRP).

To inform the fund of any first instance decisions or appeals please email the decision letter which has been provided to the scheme member to pensions@shropshire.gov.uk
