A pension from the LGPS is guaranteed in statute by the government which means that the performance of the Fund’s investments will not affect the pension you receive.

The Investments Team is responsible for all the investment, actuarial and financial aspects of the Shropshire County Pension Fund. Its main role is to implement and monitor compliance with the Fund’s Investment Strategy which is set by the Shropshire County Pension Fund and Committee.

The Fund’s investment strategy aims to generate returns to meet all future liabilities. The Statement of Investment Principles is the statutory document that sets out the Fund’s Investment strategy. This also explains how the Fund complies with the Myners Principles for investment by pension funds. The Fund’s assets are managed externally by investment managers; the investment management arrangements can be found in the Statement of Investment Principles and in the latest Annual Report.

The team manages the triennial actuarial valuation and liaises with employers on actuarial issues. The most recent actuarial report and the Funding Strategy Statement which sets out the funding strategy to meet future pension liabilities can be found through the links on this page.

The team provide a service to all employers to help them satisfy IAS19/FRS17 requirements.
