Updated list of IRMPs
We've recently updated our list of approved Independent Registered Medical Practitioners (IRMPs), who assist with ill-health retirements. You’ll notice that Dr Boag is no longer on the list due to retiring.
If you're dealing with an ill-health retirement, make sure you’re using an IRMP from the fund’s approved list who is able to provide the opinion under the LGPS regulations. What is an IRMP?
IRMPs are medical professionals, specialising in occupational health, who give formal opinions during ill-health retirement cases. An IRMP is registered with the General Medical Council and-
(a) holds a diploma in occupational health medicine (D Occ Med) or an equivalent qualification issued by a competent authority in an EEA state; and for the purposes of this definition, "competent authority" has the meaning given by section 55(1) of the Medical Act 1983 (74) ; or
(b) is an Associate, a Member or a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine or an equivalent institution of an EEA state.
