April 2021 pensions increase confirmed

In April 2021, Local government pensions will increase by 0.5%.

The statement made by Government confirms that the increase will apply to CARE accounts for active members from the 1 April 2021 and to pensions in payment from 12 April 2021.

Deferred benefits which are on hold for members who have not yet taken their benefits will also receive the increase from the 12 April 2021.

Pensions that have been in payment for less than a year will receive a pro-rata increase.
